Privacy Policy

Your birth details are personal. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what AstroCalcs does and does not do with the information you enter — the short version is that your calculations run on your own device and nothing about your chart is ever sent to us.

The short version

  • Every calculation runs client-side, in your browser. Your birth date, time and place are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
  • There is no account, no login, and no database of birth charts.
  • We use privacy-respecting hosting; standard server logs record page requests but not what you type into a calculator.
  • If we show ads in future, they may use cookies. You can opt out, and this policy tells you how.

Calculations run in your browser

AstroCalcs is a static website with a few interactive calculators that run entirely on your device using client-side JavaScript. When you enter a birth date, time or city, that information is used only by the code running in your browser to compute a result. It is not sent to us, not written to any server-side database, and not associated with any identifier. Close the tab and it is gone. This is a deliberate design choice, described in more detail on our methodology page.

What we do not collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, or birth details on our servers. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information, because we do not gather the kind of personal information that could be sold in the first place. The city-search feature loads a public place-name dataset into your browser and matches your query locally; your searches are not logged by us.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like virtually all web hosts, Cloudflare's infrastructure automatically processes standard technical information needed to deliver pages and protect the site — for example IP addresses, browser type, and the URLs requested — and may retain short-lived logs for security and performance. This is ordinary request data, not the content of any calculation, and it is governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy. We do not run our own analytics that fingerprint you across the site.

Cookies and local storage

The core calculators do not require cookies to work. We may use your browser's local storage to remember lightweight preferences on your own device — for instance a recently used location — which never leaves your browser. Any cookies set by third parties, such as an advertising provider, are described in the next section, and you can clear or block cookies at any time through your browser settings.

Advertising

AstroCalcs is free, and we may fund it in future by displaying ads, including through Google AdSense. When advertising is active, the following applies:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and elsewhere on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising from many other vendors at aboutads.info/choices.

Importantly, advertising cookies are used only for serving ads. They do not receive, and cannot see, the birth details you enter into a calculator, because those values stay inside your browser and are never exposed to ad code.

Links to other sites

Some pages link to external resources, such as the astronomy library and the place-name dataset we rely on. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

Children's privacy

AstroCalcs is a general-audience astrology site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and because calculations run locally without accounts, there is no personal data for us to collect in the first place.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves — for example, when advertising goes live. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of the page. Material changes will be reflected here rather than communicated individually, since we have no mailing list to contact you through.
